The Optimist Presidents award is presented to the Optimist sailor who was placed highest at international Optimist Reggata's whilst representing South Africa in the preceding year. It was first presented at Youth Nationals in Hermanus 2011 by OCRA President Keving Bingham. The Trophy was donated by the Leslie Family in honour of the excelent work done by past, present and future OCRA Presidents.
The Bronze was sculpted by Jean Doyle. RSA 1262 Windswept is an Optimist first Sailed at Worlds held at Club Mykonos langebaan in 1996, and was sailed by Trent Bingham at Africa's in Richards Bay 2009. This Optimist symbolises the enduring quality of the class and all who sail them.
